01/06/2016 > A NEW YEAR AND A NEW VINTAGE FROM ALBERT RENGER-PATZSCH

We would like to wish all of you a happy new year! Hopefully 2016 will be more peacful and less hateful! We are delighted to offer you a superb new entry to our collection: An original, stamped vintage made in 1935 ( or earlier ) by the famous german photographer Albert Renger-Patzsch. It shows the brick layered office building of the RoGo stocking factory near Chemnitz in Thuringia. The german architect Friedrich Wagner-Pöotrock designed this factory in 1929 and gave it the typical shape of the Bauhaus era: Form follows funktion! Renger-Patzsch made only few prints of this motif. This  picture had been published several times, but first in 1936 in a book, entitled "The romance of stockings".

The unique works of Albert Renger-Patzsch will be shown in a huge retrospective which focusses on his photographs with motifs of the industrial coal-area in the west of Germany he liked so much. The exibition will take place at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich in December 2016.

05/22/2013 > NEW ENTRY: VINTAGE OF BAUHAUS VILLA

We are happy to announce a new entry on Finest-Vintage-Photography: The b&w print of the hyper-modern, avantgardistic house of a successful doctor in the former german city of Gablonz ( today´s czech Jabloneç ). Its architect was the young Heinrich Lauterbach who also contributed to the Werkbund exibition 1929 in Breslau and gained a lot of international publictiy with his excellent Bauhaus style villa.

03/08/2013 > "THE ELECTRIC GARDEN" BY HEIN GORNY

In 1931 the famous German arts & crafts mag "Die Form"( the official journal of the German Werkbund ) published a multi-page image report about the newly opened powerhouse Brauweiler near Cologne with the poetic title "The electric garden". All of the photographes had been made by Hein Gorny (1904-1967), one of the most outstanding figures of the "New Objectivity" in modern photography in Germany. One of the prints, the "220,000 volt transformer" has now been included in our collection. This vintage is probably a unique single-piece, because Gornys negative archive was destroyed during WW II in large part due to fire water.

In Dec. 2012 the German weekly "Die Zeit" published an online collection of photographs taken by Hein Grony in the 1930s with the title "The New Objectivity".

01/28/2013 > SALT PRINT BY PHOTO PIONEER ADOLPHE BILORDEAUX

For FINEST VINTAGE the new year starts with a little sensation: In the section "Around 1900" a superb, large-format salt print of the French photo pioneer Adolphe Bilordeaux (1807-1872) is now availiable. Bilordeaux experimented with various photographic development processes and loved the perfectly orchestrated "scene", as well as sophisticated arranged still life and art, like the relief "King Louis IX on the crusade", a sumptuous Beaux-Arts piece, which Bilordeaux photographed in 1855 and that can be offered in our collection for the first time.

More works of Adolphe Bilordeaux can be found at the site of the "Musée d'Orsay".

12/23/2012 > NEW VINTAGE OF KARL-HUGO SCHMÖLZ IN THE COLLECTION

A vintage of the famous Cologne photographer Karl-Hugo Schmölz ( son of Hugo Schmölz, who is also represented in our collection ) is now availiable here at "Finest-Vintage-Photography". This masterpiece from 1951 shows a stairway in the broadcasting station of the WDR in Cologne with all its "swinging" shapes and lines which have been so typical for the modern architecture of the early Fifties in Germany.

The "Rheinisches Landesmueum" ( Museum of the Rhineland ) in Bonn just honored this talented photographer with an amazing exibition. You may find an interesting essay ( unfortunately only in German ) about this exibition and the work of Karl-Hugo Schmölz in the feuilleton of the German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ( FAZ )".

12/04/2012 > THREE NEW VINTAGES AVAILIABLE!
